Try a surf shop for the straps, I've some heavy duty rachet ones that are awesome never let me down and all the metal has neoprene covers so stop and unwanted scratches!! About a tenner?

doh.. surf shop didnt have em...

they had more like i got.. apparently surfers dont like the ratchett as overtightening can crush boards

thats what the d00ds in the local surf shop told me..


got my proper VW rack now.. had it on, off (ooo err) .. works a charm!

Just want to confirm... i have a mk3 5 door with a sunroof, will Thule 404 be ok for this?
