Is this worth itsmoney?

Hi Guys

I have been offered a MK1 GTI 1982 Y 1.8, 1 owner , white with factory roof, FSH, 40K (genuine), totally original looks dirty as its sat in a barn engine sounds a treat fuel filler neck is rusty, still got original stickers and key fob from dealer!!!.....they are asking ?2600 but will let it go for ?2300.......Is it worth it and what will the filler neck cost???....this car is so original !!!!

Hi neil,

It sound good if only for the one owner & 40 k FSH. My mk1 is in great nick but I have no history for the car and I am the 11th owner!!!.This doesn't bother me as I know how good the car is but it will affect my resale value. As for the fuel neck I think there is one on Ebay at the moment.

If you don't go for it I know someone who is looking for a nice mk1 so send me the details.

i have a golf mk 4 gti and i would love to go back to the old school days of a mk1. they r getting rare to find a nice example but i think in todays world abs, airbags are a must . but the mk 1 has so much history i still want one  :D

Fuel filler neck from Euro Car parts is about 70-80 quid.

Piece of piss to do it yourself aswell.

May also be worth replacing the hose between the filler nexk and the tank.. costs about 10 quid from memory.
