dash illumination not working
« on: 11 March 2006, 11:19 »
My brothers GTI has no dash lights at the mo.

He tried to swap some stereos around yesterday but the previous owner had bodged with terminal blocks and some of the wires were loose etc.

When I got there I took battery off and put loose wires into blocks so that I could work out what was what, wired in and all OK.

Seems that since then his dash lights no longer work so possibly a fuse blown?

He rang me up saying he knew which fuse it was but was 30A (??!!) I said I doubt it but without seeing wiring diags I wouldn't know for sure.  He's verging on useless when it comes to electrics!!

Can anyone advise which fuse to check (number or location) so that I can advise him over the phone?

OK, he's checked that fuse and it hasn't blown.  His number plate lights are working fine.

He reckons they tried to come on the other night when he started it, but nothing since.  Maybe loose connection?
