Gearbox drain plug?
« on: 10 March 2006, 14:33 »
I went to VW today to find out what size the hex bit/alan key is for taking off the gearbox drain plug and they fcuked me of saying they didn't know. Surely it would have only taken the bloke a couple of minutes to ask a fitter or have a quick look on the computer?

Anyway, does anyone know what size it is? Many thanks

As said, 17mm and there is a special 3/8th drive bit that I have bought.
Used to use a 17mm allan key before buying the proper tool. If really stuck, you can also make a tool with a 17mm sized bolt and a couple of nuts locked on.
