Broken glove box handle
« on: 08 March 2006, 00:13 »
When i bought the car the the glove box had been modded to open when you turned the key in the lock and a blanking plate put in place of the handle, which looked sh!te!!!!!!! So i fitted one from a scrapers and swapped the lock over and all was well for the last few weeks.  I have been ever so gentle with the handle cos the quality of plastic is shocking!!!!!!!! But i went to open it yesterday and it went "CLICK",,,,,, and now it wont open  The handle just flops around as if it ain't linking to anything????!!!

Can anyone please tell me how to open the glove box without resorting to violent butchery and carnage cos i have sh!te i need in there!!!?????

Thanks, Stu

1. Get a screwdriver
2. Prepare to bleed

You need to flick the catch at the top - good luck!

PS. It won't be shutting again.

snap the handle of and pull it away(including the metal bar bit). push down the catch inside with a screwdriver. when its open just take the ouside bit of the handle off and put the inside bit back on. you'll be able to open and close the glove box with the internal bit of the catch then .

This was the problem when I bought my car! Just lever a screwdriver in there, get a new handle from scrappy again and swap locks over, it's what I did :)

It was probably on it's way out when you fitted it. Buy a new one £13 from ECP.

lol, scrappies are idiots :P

They let you walk around with screwdrivers and expect you not to take anything... yeah right! lol
