anyone know of any good companies that can supply and fit a new mohair hood? might be purchasing a mk1 soft top soon, but i think the hood is a bit shoddy......

apperently i heard it can be done for about 300 notes, but f*ck knows where.

Depends on where you are.

The company that did mine, Top Job Hoods, are based in Norwich but are a mobile service. New mohair hood, fitted with all tension cables etc was £450 and true to their name, it was a top job. I was very impressed.

eyeletboy, did they do it same day? if it was booked in like? swansea is about a hour and half drive for me see.......

You wont get a better price than that anywhere. I think just the cost of mine was around that without fitting. :shocked:

http://www.carhood.com/index.html a company based in Surrey. I was living about an hours odds away from them at the time and it was about £380 for them to come out and fit it for me. Only took a couple of hours. Great bumch of  lads.

I had a new hood fitted to my old skool cab in 2004 from a company in Chessington surrey - details below

Auto hoods Company - 0208-391-5324 in Chessington

Order a black Mohair Cloth outside only - £223.25 install - £117.50
Replaced all cables as well - £38.19

Total £378.94 - includes install - Very happy with the install.
Old Skool Mk1 Golf Gli (82), Mk1 US Cab 85 and 83
SOLD - BLACK SOY 92

I think this is the same company just changed names. carhood.co. are also in Chessington

I think you are right on the company name...

I installed the hood myself - so I saved the 117.50, as I replaced my back window  - but at 117.50 its worth getting someone else to install it..

i was asked to leave the car there for the day.i think they do other jobs in between doing the hood.the price also includes new cables.
