Propbably been asked before but anyone of you lot got a soleniod pop on your drivers door?

Mine was broken into last week, while off the road, and whoever it was completely snapped both door handles.
Now I could go for new handles, but the metal is bent also, and I basically just want to know it wont happen again.
So ive decided to go for the solenoid pop and smoothed doors option!

What does everyone think? Is it reliable?
My mates got an Escort RS turbo (Unreliable as f**k) but anyway, hes had the soleniod pops on the doors for a while now, however he had a few problems with it when it in the first few months, and sometimes it wouldnt open, meaning he would have to climb in the boot (the lock left on). However this wouldnt be an option for me as my tailgate is flushed and I decided against connecting a pop to it because I hardly ever used it.

solenoid operated door locks are good when they work but a pain in the arse when they dont,  Normally yo ulink the solenid to the door lock with a cable and have it so that theres a little play in it. You then link the solenoid to the alarm so that when you unlock the car you send power out to the solenoid which pops the door open.

Also i'm not to sure but I think the rules on MOT mean you have to have an external means to open the door when the car is unlocked as a safety thing. So not sure if you need a button like TVR's have in th emirror housing.

for the MOT the car has to be able to be opened from the outside. a little trick or grey area is to leave the window down all the way then you can just reach in and open it from the inside handle ;)
