MK1 power steering using Renault Clio rack
« on: 03 March 2006, 10:51 »
I have heard that a MK1 can be converted to power steering by using a Renault Clio or Rover setup. Any views on this..........

I saw a clio rack on ebay and the rack appears to mount to the bulk head - this is a good sign.

Does anyone know what rack TSR use?

In all fairness MK1 Cabbys are sh1t without the pas. As my sister has one with borbet wheels it is heavy. I thing pas would be a good idea on it tbh.

Funny enough, if you want my pas from my MK2, its yours for a price.................................................

I thought MK1 + power steering = bigger wheels.

oh yeah - my arms aint skinny........ I reckon it will be a good project.  TSR £1000 kit is toooo expensive and I agree its not worth it. £1000 at the gym is better spent. I reckon I can get power steering in a MK1 for less than £250. Watch this space..........

Everyone knows MK1's are crap for parking - especially parallel parking.

Martz - I have got a MK2 setup. Cheers. Planning on buying a Clio rack and using the MK2 pump.
