hitting limiter at 5000rpm
« on: 02 March 2006, 22:17 »
I have had a look at other threads on this problem, and would like to know if anyone knows where to find the hall sensor part on the GSF site or what number it is? I cant find it and my friend has this problem and I am trying to help him fix it, he doesnt have the internet. also is the only way to reset the ecu on a mk3 by taking to specialist/dealer - is there no battery disconnect method or anything?

cheers

Andy

Phone up GSF and ask for the part.
Why do you need to reset the ECU?

Mine had exactly the same thing when i bought it
It had recently had a cambelt change and they had not correctly aligned the timing
Think it was out on the intermediate shaft that runs the dizzy mainly but all was slightly out to be honest

its my dads car mainly but he is adamant that we take it to a specialist or a dealer to get it sort, plus it means i dnt have to source parts and get my mate to fix it!

it has been doing it ever since he got it back in june/july where he bought it from a garage, so i think it may have had a service done recently before hand, so possibly

Is it best to just take it to a dealership and get them to plug it in?
