At the end of th day, the youngest Mk1 is 20 years old, the youngest Mk2 is 11. Law of diminishing returns says that there will be less Mk1's. Anyway we all know that Mk2's are far better built, but does it make it a better enthusiasts car.

I like both my Mk1 and Mk2, simple as that really.

I gotta say I love my MK2 but am thinking of getting a 3 door MK1 and building a big ass carbed 2 liter 16 vavle to drop between the struts.  Gotta fly in that light weight. I have a 2 liter valver from a MK3 sittng in the garage, now I just need to find a MK1 in good kit that isn't an outrageous amount of money and I can get started at it.

Hehe, the waits worth it though.
Stripped down his mainshaft a couple of days ago and it looks like we'll go for a new 3rd/4th synchro, new springs and keys........should fix that problem. Tempted to change the 2nd gear synchro whilst I'm in there. His first gear isn't standard, the cog is smaller  :o
