Well i have both and my verdict is, I am glad i have got the Mk2 as the everyday car, too much stuff goes wrong on the Mk1, and it rusts and also not sure how I would fair in a crash compared to the Mk2. Also my Mk2 seems to handle better (Raceland kit on Mk2 and Boge kit and lower brace bar on Mk1), Although probably not a great deal in it to be honest.
I have got to do a lot of work on th Mk1 to get to a happy stage on it, like get the brakes improved but all in all i am glad I am not owning a Boeing Mk3 Gti/VR6 747
