IM LOOKING TO BUY PLEASE ADVISE ME

IM LOOKING TO BUY A GTI BUT NOT SURE IF I SHOULD BY A 1.8 OR 2.0 TURBO
I KNOW A 1.8 IS 150BHP BUT A 2.0L IS 115BHP WHY IS THAT!!!!
IVE BEEN TOLD A 1999 MODEL IS A GOOD MODEL TO BUY ..
IVE SEEN A T REG 2.0L TURBO IN SILVER THAT I LIKED FOR £5800 IT SEEMED REALY GOOD AND THE INTERIOR WAS EXCELENT 3OWNERS AND 67000 MILES IS THIS A GOOD PRICE AS IVE BEEN TOLD THAT 2LTRS ARE CHEAPER THAN 1.8S
AND IS THERE ANY THING I SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR......
HOPE SOME OF YOU GUYS CAN HELP....  :undecided:

im pretty sure they didnt make a 2.0 turbo model,the 1.8 turbo is 150bhp and the 1.8 20v n/a is 125 bhp (i think) and the 2.0 is the same engine out of the mk3 gti i think they are 8valve not too sure though id go for the 1.8t and get it remapped  :wink:

Yep, 2.0 Ltr in a Mk4 is naturally aspirated (ie. no turbo). & has only 8 valves & 115 bhp. (It's v. slow) :tongue:

You can also get 1.8 T's with 180 bhp as standard.

im sure when i lifted the bonnet it said 20v turbo on it!!!!
is there any thing  i should look out for..

the 1999 model golf turbo has the stronger engine than the later models so it can take more tuning
i bought my v reg turbo for 6k with 55000 mls off a dealer so £5.800 is not really a bad price
and just think if you get it remaped it will be pushing out 200bhp and all that for about 400 quid  :grin:
