Are you thinking of Battle of the Planets?  Also known as G- Force, there was definitely a blue & red ship it it!

First of all the character in the A-Team was not Mr T but BA Barraccus, Mr T was the name of the actor. BA stood for bad attitude.

Secondly i had a different sort of childhood, i come from a family where everything revolves around cars, all the pictures on the walls are not of the family or nice landscapes but cars, we didn't sit down and watch blue peter we watched the grand prix. We weren't taken the days out at like theme parks, we went to Le Mans or a rally event(from age of 2-first grand prix) we had polished pistons as ornaments in the living room.  And on the mantlepiece my dad had this enormous valve from some truck engine or something, pride of place.

I have a few vague recollectiopns of things like the A-Team but they aren't really classified as childrens programmes are they? I seem to remember watching a lot of neighbours too, much as i hate to admit it.
