Fibreglass panels
« on: 22 February 2006, 15:55 »
Been looking on the web for a bit now looking for fibreglass bonnets and tailgates.  Anybody know of a place that does them.

Need to get the weight of the car down a bit more.

They don't stuff for VWs yet but maybe you want to partner with these guys to do a run and sell them to other members?

Hi..........i've just had my Carbon fibre doors arrive for my mk3 golf 5 door version and i can't believe how light they weigh (5kilo's each) i have some pictures of one of the doors if any one is interested in these or the 3 door versions.......or for that matter the mk3 tailgate , wings , dashboard , or for people who want to be really radical the full A59 rally carbon fibre kit.

Which is for the 3 door golf only as we all know....give me a pm with your email address so i can send you the pictures , but i will try and put them up on here if i can  not really good at tech stuff on comp.

Alot of companys will do GRP, Carbon Fibre and Kevlar if enough intrest is shown.

Whats the point in spending over £1,000 in doing moulds if you dont sell any?

Normally an order of 10 or more is the starting point!

(i would expect a mk2 bonnet to cost £125 - £150 for a double skin)
You know you want to, you dont realise it yet!

do they make carbon doors for the mk1? also boot and bonnets? my doors are starting to rust so that would be a good thing to get!

Doors wouldn't be a good idea unless you have a full rollcage with side protection cross overs.  Have you seen the mess a T-Bone accident makes......
