REV COUNTER BROKE on 1990 8v
« on: 18 November 2003, 20:23 »
The Motometer rev counter and MFA no longer work on a 1990 GTi 8v. I've read that a specialist somewhere can deal with this? But that seems like an expensive option.  Would a new/second hand set of clocks be simpler?  Idealy i'd like to fix the old unit myself - anyone have any idea how to do this??

Your cheapest option is to buy a second hand clock. There are hundreds of them and alot on ebay. ;)

I have one for sale with 91,000 on the clock.  I'm asking what I paid for it which is ?50 + postage (?6).

I ended up buying two as I bought one and then saw another one with mileage only 500 miles off of my actual car mileage.

I'm not trying the hard sale here but there are not 100's of them about, the post 90 type have a single plug unit which is the one that always goes wrong and these are pretty hard to find.

Cheers for the help guys.  It's the girlfriends car with the prob, so i'll have to get her to coff up the cash at some point.  50 quid sounds alright though..    Does anyone know why they blow? Cuz this is a replacement she's got in there now, so it must have blown the original too..
