On board computer and temp display
« on: 15 February 2006, 08:10 »
Hi,

I was driving home last night, and it was trying to de-mist the windscreen, so popped the AUTO function on the climatronic unit on to sort it out.  After about 10 mins i heard a beep, and looked down thinking it was asking me for fuel, only to find the temperture display flashing to say it was sub zero!!!   I watched the displat go from 3 oC right down to -5oC even though i new it wasnt that cold!

I then turned off the AUTO function only to find that the temperature display quickly went back to a more honest reading of 8oC.

Anyone have any idea what might be the problem here, it has only done it the once, but would be nice to check on something if it does it again.

Also my realtime MPG setting on the on board computer is normally very erratic, an average journey can vary from --- MPG to 400MPG!!!!! i actually only use the average setting now as this one makes no sense!!

Is this supposed to be like tis, or have i got a fault?

Thanks in advance, Sam
Sam

My realtime MPG does much the same. TBH I don't think its a whole lot of use unless you want to use it to alter your driving technique for more economical driving. I tend to rely more on the average MPG.

The real time MPG will vary like this depending on how much you have the accelerator depressed, after 99mpg, mine just goes blank tho :undecided:

Also if you want to clear your screen, why are you using AUTO, why not use the windscreen clear setting?

Hi,

thanks for reply.

Yep odd that as my MPG goes way above 100mpg  :undecided:

I use the auto function, as i was under the impression the air would be conditioned, removing the moisture from the air. I remember being in a smart car and the driver showing me how good the air conditioning was at removing condensation, and so presumed it would work in a similar manner. TBH i still dont fully understand the workings of the unit, the manual was pretty useless IMO ... \maybe its just me who's useless

Well i fell better knowing that everyone elses MPG reading is just as crap as mine, still not sure on the other issue though..

Cheers, Sam

I use the screen button and that clears my screen in no time :undecided:

You should find that if you put the air on cold and push the windscreen button, it clears it very quick. Auto is only really used for controling the cabin temp. The air will be conditioned as long as you haven't got the ECON mode on.
