New on here from last night!
« on: 11 February 2006, 23:39 »
Was preparing to buy a 1987 Mk2 8V GTI Golf - and it turned out to be a good deal so today I paid my deposit!  - I should be picking it up on Tuesday once I've got the insurance sorted... Nightmare that is!  I haven't had my own car and insurance since about 1987 so no NCD - anyone know of an insurer that will take my many years of Hire car receipts and give me some sort of insurance discount?

i've nevere heard of any that will do that as no claims, as you could of had a bump - not that im sayingyou have!

Hope you get sorted! bu i think you'll have to pay a reasonaby fee...

Well Arrow did seem to take into account non-certified no claims periods - but I still haven't got the cheapest price yet.  On another subject I'm looking to get some work done on the car straight away because I don't want the two little rust holes to get out of hand - Which is the best place to post on this forum asking for maintenance advice?... I want to get the rust sorted and a thorough service and check over but don't want to entrust her to some unknown garage where the mechanic may decide he wants to take her for out and thrash her... if you know what I mean... I'm in the Kingston Upon Thames area. Any advice gratefully received!... I've joined the GTI club too so hopefully they should be able to offer some advice.
