Indeed Rich, it was the ISV.  Gave it a clean tonight and its idling perfectly now.  :D

Cheers

I think this typical problem with digifant engines types, if I'm correct, can be as a result of other things other than ISV. There have been many posts on this subject as you're all aware. Some lucky ones get problem resolved just by changing ISV, for the unlucky ones the search goes on.

I have replaced the ISV unit almost a week ago
but still get bouncy revs when its cold.  :-[

Must be something different then because mine was doing it all the time, not just when cold

Remember to also clean out the idle screw drilling to the right of the throttle body, as this gets clogged up with oil mist and when this gets blocked you won't idle, just stall out. Most noticable when the weather is damp and the engine cold, as the oily gunge gets moist.

Clean this out and a lot of the problems can be resolved, without cleaning the ISV.

I normally have to do this 2x a year with normal driving milage.

I had the exact same problem on my 8v.. it took time to resolve the issue.

There is a petrol pip coming from the back and i think it connects to the injection system with a jublee clip.. the pipe had rotted away and the same with the jublee clip so the pipe was sucking in air and petrol which caused this to rev and stall.. its cost me 3 quid to fix and its been the same since.. Hence the ?30 tuning i paid to sort this out.

Have a look you might be experiencing the same the problem.  ;)

Whereabout is this pipe that connects to the injection system? I'm no where near fixing the problem. Still revving itself up when cold. ISV changed, temp. sensors cleaned, even changed some air hoses. I'm at my wits end. Costs mounting up.... SOS!!!!!

I now rely on spirits to give a sound sleep each night, namely Southern Comfort and Jack Daniels....  SOS!! Help!!

Ok let me try and explain where the pipe is, look at your engine at the rocker cover, where the cap is where you put in oil just above it to the right a little going back about 2 inch onto a steel block should a 0.5cm pipe connecting to the steel block, petrol runs through this and into your engine, check the dublee clip and check the pipe..

good luck!! :)
