New to golfgti.co.uk time to introuduce myself.
« on: 06 February 2006, 18:09 »
Hi,

Stumbled accross this site whilst looking for info to do with mk4 golf gti's. Just purchased my new car on the weekend, and have found this site really helpful already!

Me names Sam and i'm from Plymouth, Devon. Not sure if anyone else is from this neck of the woods.

Just bought myself a 99 V plate gti, which so far i'm very pleased with.

Cheers for now, Piccies to follow (once o figure it out)

Sam

Me again,

Got some piccies, only off the mobile phone camera though.

This is how i bought the car. It has oettinger front and rear valances along with side skirts. The grill is not oettinger, but i cant remember the exact name of it. It also has 16" vw wheels that are fecked, so my next mod will be a set of 18" wheels.

I belive the car was lowered also as the wheels seem to sit quite low into the arch, although i'm not 100%.

It has cream leather recaro's and an oettinger back box, which makes a really nice sound, which is not obtrusive but just a light rumble.

I also plan to get some smoked front angel eyes, replace the grill (not my taste) and get it revo'd although i timed the 0-60 on friday (somewhere safe) and i counted approx 6.5 sec's but am looking to get it on the rolling road to find out what its running like.

Anyway heres some pictures, will be asking some questions over the following days.

Cheers, Sam

hello and welcome.
hope i can clear up some unknowns about your new car   your grille had me stumped for a moment, and it looked like a caractere bumper ...
im pretty sure though its a Projectztwo kit, you dont see them very often. grille/bumper/front spoiler all the same make
could very well be oettinger sideskirts, cant really tell from the pic. the rear valance looks like the standard one has been flatted and painted, works well.
by the looks of it the previous owner was certainly an enthusiast, because it looks like they bodycoloured the rear badge, which a lot of people overlook.

regarding the revo.. unless you were counting slowly then your car may already be remapped, you couldnt hit a 6.5 with a standard 150bhp, try getting it to a rolling road to see what its pumping

Hi,

Thanks for the replies all. Seem like a friendly bunch!

topher you are right, that is what is on the front of my grill, but i swear i saw oettinger on there somewhere too!! I know its on the exhaust, so maybe you have hit the nail on the head, which is great. Seems a shame to take the grill off now, seeing as it matches the rest of the kit, but i find it makes the front look odd.

Does this projectztwo company have a website that anyone knows of?

The badge does appear to be body coloured on the picture, but it isnt on the real car, although i do think last owner did take fairly good care of the car, which is nice.

I have just been reading through the forums and noticed a few things which may be problems with my car. Firstly my standard bosch re-circulating valve (dump valve) makes a bit of a noise when i let off the gas at higher rev's, some one seemed to think this meant it was knackered. If i were to replace it, would it be of any benifit going for a forge dump valve, or should i stick with the bosch one. I dont really want it to make too much noise, just a little woosch?

Thats all for now,

Thanks, Sam
Sam
