£985 fitted!!!

at a VW dealer, thankfully before I owned the car - still made me wince though.

Assuming you are talking about the 1.8t? which has the dual mass flywheel, I believe the 2.0 is much cheaper. I think the actual part was £600ish. I will check the bill if it helps?

Mine is ARZ I believe

Here is the breakdown... for info, it occured at 60K

Symptoms were a sticking clutch - car roadtested and found it requires a new pressure plate, clutch plate and flywheel..

Flywheel  598.40 - total bill 1066..... also included a service.

BTW, if you bought from anyone in the trade, paid a decent price and assuming the mileage isn't massive, you should get them to fix or a major reduction. Sale of Goods act. If it is on finance, you can claim against the finance comp

Im having a bloody fantastic time with my lovely golf, not only have i just had to replace the flywheel, which cost £600, and found that the sump plug had been cross threaded by previous owner, and theres a water leak where a clip has broke on one of the water pipes, but tonight after only having got car back yesterday it broke down on me!!  right on Wheatley hall road in Donny at  rush hour!! seems that slave cillinder has gone, but to make things worse AA took over an hour n half to get to me due to a previous job they were on.

Very very very happy  not
