Service Interval

My GTI is only 11 months old and has 10,700 miles on it...the computer displayed tonight that the service (it's first) will be in 700 miles....that's at just over 11,000 ...what happened to this long life servicing lark ?...Anyone else have their first service yet ?

Phew...it didnt need servicing..it had come out of the factory with the setting to "normal" intervals and not the long life ones...5 minutes had it sorted...have to go back for a recall on some clutch heatshield next week...anyone else had to have this ?
