My brother-in-law has a problem with his MK IV Non Turbo GTI.
The car is an S Plate 125 BHP version and has done 82,000 miles. It had a cambelt change in Sept 05 and has done about 4,000 miles since.
He went on a 100 mile round trip to day and when he arrived back home there was a very load noise coming from the cambelt area. I've stripped the top cambelt cover off to find an L shaped adjustment bracket loose next to the cambelt tensioner. !!
Does anyone know where I can find photographs of the cambelt layout so I can see what has gone wrong with it. Does any also know if the valves get damged if the cambelt jumps or breaks
