Digifant NZ???
« on: 28 January 2006, 10:57 »
Hi guys,
This may seem like a dumb question but what is Digifant NZ???
I need a throttle cable for my girlfriends 1300 and eurocar parts list either with carb 2g or with Digifant NZ.
Help!

Hiya

Some 1.3 Golfs ran on a standard 2e carb system, as used in the 1.6 or 1.8 drivers. However some were fitted with digijet (code NZ) injection, which is NOT the same as the digifan (code PB) found  the late 8v GTI's.

According to the Haynes manual "The system is regulated in accordance with instructions recieved from a control unit, located in the bulkhead plenum chamber on the left hand side. This unit was modified in July 1989 and can be indentified by a blue sticker on the unit, earlier units having a copper-brown sticker."

So depends on if it's running on a carb or on the digijet fuel injection.

If you're still unsure post back or PM me and I'll try and email you the section from the haynes, with piccies and diagrams to match up.

single point injection (which is what digijet is) does look like a carb but literally has a little jet on top, so to the untrained eye can be mistaken for a carb. take a pic of it and post it up here if ur unsure after u have taken the airbox off

I doubt it'll be a digijet, its rare to see one in the UK.  More likly it'll be a bog std carb :)

if you take the airbox and look into the top of the carb, if theres a flap its a normal carb, and if it has a black electrical thingy its an SPI unit.  I've never seen a UK spec MK2 SPI though, so I'd put money on it being a bog std carby :)

Another dead givaway, is follow the fuel lines.  If they run to a mecanical fuel pump attached to the the engine then its defo a carb :)
