Car Security
« on: 14 November 2003, 12:15 »
At the moment my security consists of me locking the door.

No amrour plates
No alarm
No boss snap off thing
No big crazy steering wheel cover

Any good suggestions?

I do have fully comp tho, but its the actual car I dont want stolen...not bothered about audio stuff inside...the car took months to find...

Get a Cat 2 alarm, pretty cheap. (?100+)

You'll save the ?100 on your first years motor insurance.

If your goin to get an alarm you should get a CAT1 alarm fitted. might be expensive but if you love your car then its worth it. Insurance should drop aswel.

Second...
A Snap off steering wheel. Who is gonna drive away with your car if there is not steering wheel?

I have always gone with Clifford. Not had any problems. I went for the cheapest Cat 1 with a few extras.  ;)

Other than that the Virtual keys options a good cheap Cat 2 alternative.

Def go 4 a cat1,no point in cat2 cos ul just want to ungrade later n ur insurance will b much cheaper with a cat1(toad or clifford i wud say-depending on model).
Was thinking of a snap off,but don't know,up to taste i suppose.Hopefully getting me doorlocks removed next year-let the t-w-a-t-s try then ;D!
U def need some security thou if u don't hav a garage like me! :'(

cat1 doesnt always make your car cheaper if its a low risk thing...

for my old car i had clifford cat1 fitted and didnt save a penny.. but i love remote central locking.. lol

my new car came with a toad cat1 already, so didnt much choice there.. plus insurance on this one forces me to have at least cat1

remove your rotor arm when you leave the car. that'll get them stumped for a while.

Should be about ?500 for a top of the range alarm by GAP.

You can also get this thing called ''Discarnect'' (Dis car nect)
This thing dissconects the battery with a lock and keeps the interiour power supplied. stops theifs starting the car basically
