Mk2 Gti Insurance....Agreed Value Policies?
« on: 25 January 2006, 11:45 »
Folks,

Will be die my renewal sometime soon and although I am getting a pretty good deal on my valver as a second car on limited mileage I'm looking to try and get it onto an agreed value policy.

Does anyone have experience of this or recommendations?

Having restored my car from very average to what I hope is a high standard I'd like the insurance value to reflect what I'd have to pay to get anything close to a replacement (touch wood never required!)......as it is, insurers would pay a pittance for a 15-16 year old car on a regular fully comprehensive policy.

Any advice appreciated as always

I've got mine on an agreed value policy with HIC for £3300
All you have to do is fill out the form detailling exact condition etc then send it along with any recent receipts for major work and a few good photographs showing bodywork, interior etc. they then send you a valuation certificate and it's job done.
Two years running they have agreed to my valuation of £3300

You got any pics of your dad's split ?

No, not with hic. They send you a pack & you need to take a minimum amount of photos, 6 i think.  Fill in some forms, tell em of anything you've done to make it worth what you think it is.  Then you send em back & an engineer decides wether its worth what you're claiming.   Job done.

^^i work on sales for golf+ insurance/hic so if you pm me your number i'll give you a bell and sort you out with a quote. With regards to the agreed value it costs 15.75 extra with us and what the others said is pretty much spot on as to how it works!

hope this helps
