how much to replace one of these
I need one changing on my engine

i been quoted 300-350 with engine out
including all parts labour

or 500 with engine in including all parts
is this good

how much are the parts does anyone know

You could do it yourself...

I would guess the parts would come to around £100 - £130 from vw, but they are all listed in the thread so you can easily get some prices.


A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

500 quid is a good price.
Changing the chains involves removing the gearbox. Having done one outside my old house, i don't recommend it !  :laugh:

Are you sure the chains need doing? and not the upper tensioner and guide rail?

well I have never heard this engine
since last august when it wa sin the car sounded ok to me

but i got told the chian rattles?
engine has done 90k
got no reciepts or out with it
