Tyre sizes

I currently have 185/55 15's on my car. I was going to put 195/50's on it. Can I do this? The wheels are the standard bbs RA'S. If so which tyres are the best to go for. I was thinking of Goodyear Eagle F1'S.

195/50/15's will go on fine i think! Just means that the tyre is wider and lower profile. I assume the wheel is size 6J? any tyre fitting place will tell you that. Im running 195/45/15's Uniroyal tyres. Cheap and cheerful!

I hear the Eagle F1's are great but a bit pricey. Someone was telling me they could get Avon tyres for £32 a pop. More like it on the price front but I haven't a clue if they're any good.

They will go straight on and will be exactly the same rolling diameter as the old ones, but will be slightly wider :)

The number '50' refers to a percentage of the width of the tire, so 195/50 are almost exactly the same as 185/55 :)

That's the trouble with living in Belfast - Costs me at least an extra £10 a tyre to get delivered
