K well you wont gain much BHP, prob about 120 with the std 8v head.  If you port it you'll see more gains :)  The best thing about it is the boost in torque you'll get :)

Its actually piss easy on an 8v digifant, all you need is the bottom end from a MK3 2.0 GTI 8v, or a Passat, the engine code you're looking for is 2e.  You use the 2e dizzy and drop your old head on it, and everything just plugs straight in :)

The only thing you need to worry about is the breather on the front of the block, you can either block it off with a plate from TSR, or fit the MK3 breather system and rocker cover, which is what I plan to do.

You don't need to change the dizzy if you have a digifant GTI, just leave the 2e one in there :)

If its a K-Jet, what you do is swap the 2e dizzy gear onto your old dizzy, then fit it to the block using an adaptor plate bought from TSR :)

For the headlights, all Golf mk2's are crap as standard. Best thing you can do is see Dizzie on here and buy an uprated loom for your lights off him. He also sells on Ebay. It'll improve your lights shed loads, then you can think about going for white Xenon's by ring or osram or someone. I'm hoping with all this plugging Dizzie's gonna give me a free loom ? :)

I think there's a pretty good write up for the 2 ltr bottom end on the clubgti forums. If not, use the search function here, it's been covered a lot recently..

You need a MK3 cambelt I believe, the other accessory belts depend on how much of the MK3 gear you are using :)  I've got a complete bottom end including the alternator, PAS pump, waterpump etc, so need MK3 accessory belts as well.  The block mounting bolts are the same so I'm sure you can just swap MK2 pulleys & alternator if you wish :)

Oh and you'll need MK2 sparkies to match the injection system I believe though I'm not 100% on that one!

RJ you are correct with the timing belt. Have just recently had this done to my car what a difference amazing, worth while doing this.
I had the head and both manifolds gasflowed schrik cam and a remap I have 148.5 BHP and 140 lb/ft torque
