they came in some GTIs as an option i think, or you could buy them at one stage, if your planning on buying one then expect to spend alot as theyre rare as fcuk, ive seen them go for around 100 before

'92 J Plate, 1.8 in metallic black. Bought in a hurry to replace my Toledo GT, which died. £300 with 9 mths ticket! Came with comedy Piper GTi exhaust (going very soon), GTi cam and Weber (With carb icing option ) and 80mm drop springs . The springs went first weekend, its on std 8V Gti springs for now. It currently has 14" Montreals but eventually will get the 15" TSW Evos I've got kicking about. I'll get either Eibachs or new 16V springs, rebush and fit the Boge struts I had on the Toledo. I've got big bumpers and a Jetta front end to go on. I did think about a full GTi interior but  I'm just going to get a decent drivers seat - Corbeau, Cobra whatever. I've never bought an expensive car and really can't see any great advantage in spending £3-4K over running this. As I'm an old git it cost less than £200 to insure :smug:

That CD holder is a nice touch!!
I noticed a few of you have Blue LED dash lights, my mates got em in his Cavalier and they arent very bright, what are yours like and how hard are they to fit? (replacement LED bulbs or resistors?)

These racing seats are a right pain if you drive long distances, they are fixed upright and very very hard on the bum!! unless you spend a lot more money and get the reclining seats! These are proper luxury but a tad expensive!

The fischer CD holder was an option from the VW dealer back in the day, I've seen about 5 sell on ebay in 2 years

As for the LEDs mine looked better than they do in that pic, for some reason I just couldn't capture it with my digicam!  I bought all the kit from http://www.ultraleds.co.uk.  For the dash ones I got a set of blown std bulbs, stripped them down & removed the bulb, then soldered in some ultrabright LEDs.  It helps if you rub the end with sandpaper as it helps diffuse the light better.  You also should take the white plastic bit off the top of your dash clocks & remove the green filter inside, although the LEDs are strong enough to shine blue through it its much brighter if you bin it altogether.

I did all the switches in the same way which was pretty straight forward.  The heater pannel is another story though, I prised the back off it then cut the plug off the back.  Then I soldered the wiring to the plug so I could plug it straight into my dash.  I used 2 LEDs in the end, I drilled a hole on the right side and glued the second LED into place there.  It lights up brightly and the light pattern is evenly spread across the whole thing :)

Just been reading thought the list of drivers and alot of the stuff i plan to do are in the list. I was wondering if anyone want to say how much it cost to do some of the mod. and any tips of where to get things from or how to do etc

The basic plan is ....

Big Bumpers Kit (i have been told there are loads of different quailty bumpers, and the cheaper ones dont go on to easy, so where is the best place to get the from?)
G60 Arches
G60 Steel Wheels
Lower 40mm (Koni red)
Stainless Steel Exhaust System
Clear Indicators and side reapeaters
Half Smoked rear cluster
Remove the large strips down the side (is that the sill by the way?)
Black Badges

Then i will start thinking about the interior, how much would this cost? and any details?

bumpers i would say get from a scrappy,

get them rubbed down and resprayed, i would probably say you get a pair for £50 ish

I think you can buy new g60 arches about £20-25 per arch

G60 steels, i think i seen somewhere you can get them brand set from VW approaching £160.

Koni Red's Golf Mk2 1.3, 1.6 & 1.8 GTI. Excluding GTI 16V     Year: 84>90     Lowers: 35-40mm     Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£219.00

Stainless steel exhaust system would vary wildly i would reckon, i would get a GTI manifold put on, then you can have any system made for a gti, much more choice. Not sure on prices, vary wildy upon make, trying to remember the make i always see commended by the GTI owners on here  :undecided: can't remember,

Clear side repeaters and indicators are buttons, probably £30 for all clear front and sides

Half smokes like 16v lights i assume you mean, seem to be around £50, £70 i think for genuine hella jobs

Remove the side rubbing strips you would be talking quite a bit, would need filling in by a body shop, and resprayed, not cheap

Black badges, cheap as chips.
