Insurance quotes
« on: 17 January 2006, 18:49 »
Hi, just a quick question.

Can anyone recommend a decent insurance company?

How old does a car have to be before it becomes a classic, and does it make a difference insurance-wise?

I've tried Footman James and they were useless. Best quote I've had for a 30 y/o with mileage of less than 4000 per year and on street parking is £314 from Norwich Union. Not bad but can I do better?

Admiral or Adrian Flux were my best offers.

Just bought a mk1 gti 1600. Had lost my no claims cos my last one was stolen. Declared my alloys and that it was lowered. Im 23 but still got a decent quote for £614 fully comp(admiral) and £435(flux, tho that was 3rd party f+f).

Im sure they could give you a good quote specially with No Claims and being an old man  :lipsrsealed:

As for classic status, i;ve always thought its 25yrs, although i may be wrong.

has to be 15yrs old or older on a classic policy with us (golf+ insurance/HIC) but it will vary with companies. For your age and mileage i would expect to beat that price (dependant on where you live and convictions etc), i insured someone from the forum yesterday on a 91 clipper cabr fully comp for under 200 .

If you want me to have a look pm me your number or call me on 08451 266366

hope this helps

cheers
Martin
