Good question mate im sorry i cant tell you what it is but i always wondered what this thing was when i had my 1.6.... :smiley:

im sure its to do with the air going into the carb, i think its to stop to much going in or the other way round, its not super imortant but ithats what its there for, the golf i had before the one i have now ran fine without it, if you unplug the hose coming of it then the revs should change abit, please correct me if im wrong but thats what my mechanic said its for..... i hope hes right :laugh:

well the onlt thing its connected too is the carb so it aint gonna blow up if you unclip it  :smiley:

haha.. took mine off.. well my bro did... and there was nowt attached to mine.. so we put something spare back to it when we put it back on....
