in the gti the clutch is a bit more stiff and heavyer than my driver, is this the cable or just needs some grease on the clutch lifting arm (thingy). its a manual adjustment cable, not automatic

take the clutch cable off an dribble some engine oil down into it, and let it seep down
hang it on your wahsing line for an hour or two

Just buy a new manual cable, try halfords first as they are end of line so under £5
Ask for one for a 1.6 Driver otherwise they'll try & sell you an expensive auto adjust cable!

cheers mate, how do u set up the manual ones? its it as simple as trial and error finding where the bitting point is??

you adjust the locknut till theres about 5-10mm free play at the gearbox end
