you will need the second wiper arm, so prob best to get down a scrappy and get one from any model golf, (although some don't have the intermittent function on them so check first), then just put that in, pop the bung on the passenger side out mount the spindles back into the relevant holes, attatch the wiper arms then away you go.

Alright! Some one else with style sense! Congrats on getting rid off the sh!tty single wiper. Get it on Ebay, some chav will buy it.

I'd imagine you'd need the full original wiper arms / mechanisms? Also I'd guess that one of the wiper arm holes has been filled? Not too sure, never even considered getting rid off one wiper myself, but I'm sure poeple can be more specific.

As in the good book of Haynes, refitting will be a reversal of fitting.

IIRC to mod a normal setup to a single wiper setup, you need a new linkage or modify the existing by adding a bit of metal to it to increase the sweep... So, I think you'll need to get the original mechanism. But look on the bright side, you'll be able to sell your single wiper conversion to someone on eGay.

your one looks like it is going to need replacing as it would appear that the second arm has been removed and that a peice of metal has been welded in to give it the full sweep.

You will need.

Original Wiper motor
Two wiper arms
the second arm that goes from the main spindle to the passenger side wiper arm hole.
the big nuts and washers that go over the spindles to hold them in and then the wipers in.

Shouldn't cost more than about £30. at the most its a half hour job.

If the original hole has been welded up & smoothed over, tyou're going to have a tough time getting the hole in the right place.  Even then the hole is at an angle so without chopping out the hole from another MK2 & welding it in you may never get it right :(

From where it is positioned it could be one of two things, either a proper storm single wiper mechanism, or a modded one, to get it to lay flat like his it would only wipe 2/3 of the screen when being used if it was a non modded genuine article. Logic and guess work mate. Then i could be completely wrong on both counts, but we were not given any idea.
