air box mods
« on: 10 January 2006, 19:06 »
I've just bought my wife a 2000 2 ltr 16v mk4 gti ( 115 bhp ) which compared to my mk3 8v seems a bit gutless. The only thing i've changed on my mk3 is the air intake by taking out the original and replacing it with a much bigger ducting to the front of the car. The improvement is huge.....has anyone done anything like this to a mk4 and if so has it improved the car at all ? I would also like to hear about any other simple engine mods to improve it. Not too much money though i've just lost 3k on the poxy renault laguna we traded in that she fell in love with 8 months ago. WOMEN !!!

its not 16v mate, its 8v. basically the same engine as in your mk3 but with more weight to carry around.

airbox mods work well, you can have the ecu remapped to gain a bit of power but it will never be a very quick car without spending a few grand on it :undecided:
