i know i am still paranoid, doesn't help that i wrecked a bush or 2 on the left side, so the steering has a judder to it anyways, but i keep thinking the bloody wheel is gonna fall off!! Can imagine it wacking someone

Anyone selling gti hubs with brakes still on? might go for a conversion if i can get a good price, 8v or 16v either would be fine!

 

Oh i am in crappy northern ireland, so if would be preferable if ur from here 

Postage is a b!tch, can't even begin to think what 2 hubs, 2 disks, 2 calipers and 2 carriers weigh!?!?!?!

So the saga continues............................

Annoying rattle in my steering, getting progressively worse, thought mayeb the tie rod ends, but they turn out to be ok.

So i go and buy a new steering rack this morning, and i got grooved uprated discs the other day, fitted the discs, 10 minute job, now on the steering rack, first 2 bolts come of fine after wd40ing the crap out of them,

the other 2.............. 1 of the bolts sheers, and the other one the nut rings on!!!!!!

So i had to cut them off with my trusty angle grinder, job done!

ffs! now normally this would be fine, i just go down to vw and get the parts in a mates car, except they don't have them in stock, won't be untill tuesday!!!!

So i am on foot till then 

VW, why do you have steering racks in stock and not the bolts to fit them!!!!!!!!!! 

So I will say it again, why do I bother??

Vw's are not that reliable compared to jap vehicles of that period. They moan, and groan and dnt start etc etc. I have had a few old jap cars, that just drive and feel like theres nothing wrong. Just needs regular service and they roll on longer than golfs.

but jap cars of that age feel cheap like eating a mcdonalds meal, you know its going to fill you up. VW's feel solid and strong and quality like a nice meal in a restarent. But whats the point if they not going to operate properly half the time.

also the VW's got a good dubstyle image etc

another point is if your crash in an old jap car your most likely gonna get taken away in a bag rather than an ambulance, they rip to pieces in a crash, esp crx's and the like!!
