My god why do i bother!!
« on: 07 January 2006, 01:47 »
Was my day off today, thought oh will get a few wee jobs done on the car! had a cracked fog, fixed that, tidied the car up a bit on the inside, Thought to myself she is looking good.

My mate asked me to take his brother home as he had a few drinks, so i do, and what happens, halfway there my wheel falls off!!!!

Apparently the nuts just worked themselves loose ffs!, wheel went bouncing down the road, lucky i was only doing about 25, and even more lucky i didn't hit anything, just need a new disk, left one is ground down a bit.

Last thing you expect to happen really!

Warren

your lucky you only need a new disc warren!!

i know someone who had that happen to them..turned out someone had tried to nick the alloys and couldnt get the locking wheel nut off which didnt obviously didnt last long on its own...he had to get a new wing and bumper as the car was so low it knackered it all
08.03.10 - 3, maybe 4 weeks, and I want my golf back on the road!

that happened to me once on my old *cough* corsa *cough* although i was lucky enough to realise something wasnt right though mine was only being held on by one tight stud

since then i have a phobia about wheel studs and will always check them myself after someone has been at the car!!

didnt u feel the car driving a bit funny and wobbly? i would hav pulled over straight away!

glad to hear not much damage obtained u was lucky there. i had a ford escort and same thing as above someone tried to nick driver side alloy, they loosened all the nuts and when i got back i didnt realise it was driving funny, got to my front drive and as i went up the kerb into driveway the wheel went walkies leaving me with a escort parked nicely in mt front drive without a wheel lol. was done all in perfect timing. i couldnt beleive my luck.

as escorts are sh!te the whole suspension arm got f**ked and i scrapped the £50 piece of crap.

I nearly had a wheel fall off on the motorway. Got a real bad vibration at anything above 40. When I pulled off the motorway and checked, they were only on hand tight! That could have been scary had they decided they'd been on long enough! It was my sisters old Cavalier (Affectionately named the Crapalier). It went to the scrapyard in the sky not long after when the MOT man poked about 5 holes in the sill with a screw driver
