VW's - Lifesavers!!

The pictures below are that of a MK II Scirocco after the driver's door had been hit at over 100 MPH by an Escort RS Turbo. The car was sent spinning over 300 yards along the road.
All four of the passengers got out alive. The 2 on the passenger side got out without a scratch. The rear drivers side passenger had to be cut out, and lost one of his shoes, but had no injuries. The driver, who was thought to be dead by the police, was actually alive but unconscious and had only suffered a small scratch to the chest, and whiplash.
The police said that had they been in most other makes of car, then they would have all been killed.







The accident happened over 13 years ago - I was the driver.

Wow cant belive you were all ok!

P.S were the chairs that colour origionally or was that a result of the accident?  :grin:

Wow thats lucky, a while back when my best mate stuffed his clio we were scavenging bits off it when we over heard these guys talking about a golf and a corsa involved in an accident. Both people in the corsa died instantly and the whole family in the golf weren't harmed at all!

shoe was fine..but ads manicure was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident..it was that last chip,it just cudn take no more.. :cry:

crikey, a bit of build quality goes along way doesnt it!

We should go back to the way it was, build cars strong, not with crumple zones, they fold up like tissue paper these days!

i guy i used to knock about with crashed his mark 2 golf in style rolled it about 4 times and the copper said that if it was anything other than a golf then he would of been dead
