You could try disconnecting the sensor and seeing how it works, i am currently running mine like that. Essential trips only and its a b!tch when cold but runs fine when hot! Full details are in my thread "Starting problems - just checking...." about 3 posts below this one.

Edit: Oh yeah the symptoms started as just not starting but got to the point that with the sensor connected, even when the car was hot, it ran very similar to what you are describing.

  • Hello, my name is John and I'm a dub addict.
The £11 one is the 2 pin sensor, perhaps the older ones are more expensive?  Either way the later 2 pin blue ones are definitly £11ish :)

Tried running it last night without the temperature sender.  It didnÂ’t even start.

Got up this morning,  expecting a rough ride to work.  Weather was quite mild this morning.

The car ran sweet as to work,  never missed a beat. Managed 43 mpg

Going off to VW today to buy a new original vag item and the seal to go with it,  as I have convinced myself that this GSF one is faulty.

Theres a post on here somewhere that I remember reading stating that the GSF one wasnÂ’t a good fit on their car either as it leaked water.

GSF- Good for everything apart from blue senders it would appear.
