Chugs when lifting off the brake
« on: 01 January 2006, 23:19 »
Funny old problem, just got my old 1.8 gl back on the road, as my friend wants to buy it off me, had got her all working again, everything seemed fine, but i was just checking all of the lights for the MOT when I noticed that as you lift of the brake, the exhaust seems to chug, almost a bit of a splutter. Anyone know what this could be???

As far as i know the only bit of the engine directly linked to the brakes is the brake vacuum booster. On the 8v 1.8 gti its just to the back left of the rocker cover i think. Check for leaks maybe? I know vacuum leaks elsewhere cause bad running....
