But yours is a non-turbo Rich?

I was thinking of Hobnobs. I thought early turbos would have had just TC and later ones the full ESP. Talking of ESP, it got me out of a bit of a pickle when I hit some ice today on an off camber S bend. Just as i started a mini tank slapper, it all tidied itself up, which was nice as a truck was coming the other way.

Going back to the original question re. snow and noise. If it is not TC, then i remember my old cars making an horrendous noise on snow. It was simply the noise from tyre slip on snow, just like tyres sometimes make an awful noise when turning in a showroom.

Mine is turbo but is a 2000 x reg, don't have any lights / buttons for traction control, the noise it makes happens in rain / snow / cold roads etc.

It does sound like a traction control type of noise but as previously said I'm sure I don't have it

Don't say that.... that sounds far too expensive to sort out.

Really beginning to wish I didn't buy this car now

I would'nt choose to leave my traction control on, as all it seems to do is flash a yellow light near the speedo while you're wheels are spinning, but if you turn it off the yellow light stay's on all the time and it's annoying.

mine spins like mad, i get the grinding noise every morning in the same place... pulling away at a junction on a steep slope on my way to work at the end of my road so the engine/clutch is still cold.. but have to rev the balls off it to pull away on that slope. (2000 AGU)

definitely no traction control, no idea what it is  .. ill fix it when it breaks.

My attitude too, fix it when you need to  Maybe you chaps do have a problem.

The little yellow light also comes out to play when I play at being a lairy yob and get it sideways on wet roundabouts - it is very obtrusive and is obviously better being 'off' if you are really booting it. However, could be quite useful on those slippy roads at night when you maybe aren't concentrating 100% and an 'S' bend catches you out.

Mine is Jan 2001 btw (2000 build I expect) and has and ESP button and light on dash.

Suppose thats a good way to look at it, it's been doing it for about the 6-7 months I have had the car and nothing has fallen off yet so I'll just wait until I'm moving before putting my foot down a bit
