1.6 Ryder exhaust

hey guys im looking for an afetermarket exhasut for my 1.6 ryder. i dont want to go down the univerisal route as i heard it can be tricky. any suggestions as to who i can contact?

i think that the 8v gti exhaust is the same fitment and will bolt onto your ryder. as the ryder is also 8v.

so search for 8v gti back boxes. im also after one but i dnt want to spend £150-200 for a new one, so i am going to try and get a second hand one from somewhere. or might get exhaust uk in sheffield to make me one.

The GTI zaust wont bolt straight on as the driver bore is smaller, and the back box has a pipe going all the way to the front silencer rather than to a rear silencer like on the GTI.

You have 3 choices:
1. Fit a 1.8 GL/Driver downpipe, this will mate up to your manifold and allow you to fit a GTI zaust from the centre silencer back
2. Fit a complete GTI exhaust from the manifold back
3. Get a GTI rear silencer & backbox, then get a garage to make up an adaptor so it will fit to the 1.6 front silencer

Has to be an 8v GTI manifold, the 16v one is different

kool will this give me BHP gain 2?

Not sure if it will give you much BHP, but I did the same on my 1.6 Driver and it was definitly more rev happy

One thing to watch out for is the manifold nuts, in the end I had to cut one of the nuts off then take the head off & drill out the stud as it was rusted to buggery!

True, the manifold can be a pain in the arse to get undone! I think if i remember they have spring clips aswell?
