Alright guys ?

Just bought a 22 year old mk2, It was registered August 1984 ! ! the window wipers rise to the left, there is no side repeaters and it has the black and grey interior.

It is not in bad condition and has 204k on it ! and passed an mot eventually last week. I suppose I am chancing myself here but aint got much money at the moment and would love to see an example of this car as old as this back to a former glory.

was wondering if anyone had any parts in near new condition that people have no use for or would like to help get this one back up to a good level and would be happy to donate any parts pretty much that they would not be using so I can restore the old boy then please let me know as it would be greatly appreciated and would obviously be happy to pay the postage.

to start with though I need a good quality interior with door cards, if anyone's got one let me know how much you want for it and I will see what I can do, I wouldn't expect to get one of these donated !

Anyway guys cheers for your time and hope to here from some of you, any tips by the way on improving the reliability etc. since it is so old then please, or things I should look forthen that would be a great help as well.

Welcome mate, Is it an 8V? I have a 16V and plenty of bits lying about, inside and out, I think the bet thing to do is to post the bits you need, then i'll see if i can help!

btw - those doors cards are hard to come by in good condition, you could try ebay and the usuall scrapies also!

Sounds like a familiar story, I've bought an 86 8v that has no rust on it, and is mechanically ok but needs tlc - anything rubber under the bonnet needs attention of some sort (found six air leaks of various hoses so far!). 

I've got a nearside hub and bearing I got from the breakers and had fitted for a short while while mine was having a new bearing pressed into it.  It sounded fine while it was on, you're welcome to it, I paid £20t, but just give us a tenner or a couple of bottle of vino if you like....

Yeah it is an 8v, I don't think the 16v came out till 88-89 ?

The engine is fantastic as I think it is the old k-jetronic with a high lift cam, it runs mint with great pick upa beautiful throaty sound ! !

like I say it is not bad condition as I know the history for the last 7 years ! but definite tlc needed !

So far it would probably be easier if I could get new front wings as They fine apart from under the plastic mouldings

also be needing a new sub-frame soon, front metal spoiler from a small bumper model, 2 x sills, lower rear spoiler bit from small bumper, landing panel and starter motor to start with.

Any near new parts I would take as well as I would replace the old ones even if they worked.

It's amazing how you can get an attatchment to a car eh ? I have a 400hp nissan gt-r yet I get a totally different kind of fun from the golf ! !

I had an 87 (E plate) 16valver and that had the same wipers! i thought that was really odd! as when it rained u couldnt see much as it would only wipe half of the windscreen!!
