in need of some help about a chip for my golf

iv got a 5 door mk4 gti 1.8 turbo

there is a chip on ebay on the web sight below how hard is it to fit to ur ecu if its the case of just pulling ur old one out and poping that in or is it a lot harder than that

You cant phisically chip the 1.8t, you have to remap it, as far as i know anyway

Superchips will 'chip' your car for £511 giving you +30 bhp
OR
You could spend £475 at Jabbasport & get your OE ECU mapped 'live' on a rolling road (re-map) & get between +50-61 bhp. :wink:

bit of a hi-jack (sorry!!) , but what effect does it have on the fuel consumption if you re-map the car to over 200 bhp??

None at all, if you drive the same. (Maybe even better!).....

Try driving the same, though!!!  :grin:  :cool:

Not sure..... Didn't think Superchips did re-maps???

they can be chipped, but its soldered in.. not a DIY job unless you're an autoelectrician.

nothing wrong with upsolute chips but make sure it's the right one for your car.

personally i'd never buy a second hand one, can't be too careful when f*cking with the engine management.

Bit of a late reply but been away for the christmas break. i was alos looking at the poss chip/remap. I looked at upsolute an found a compnay called c-tech www.ccctech.co.uk . I got an email from this guy today called Simon Coe (whos name is splatterd with compliments all over seat/audi forums from the company basicly said he would travel to me 2hrs away and do the job plus road test for £260 thats on a 1.8 noturbo but cant see it being to much more for turbo chappets..
