My scirocco is fitted with 185/60/24 ventura, good grip in the dry and wet (lasts well as well), but I don't like pirellis, every one I know who has fitted them has  been disapointed with the grip levels (particulay in the wet). If you can store a second set of wheels, I would get some for track days with a set of nearly illeagle decent make tyres (yokos if you can find some) as it is unlikley that you will find a tyre that is superb for all 3 conditions that you are after. use something with superb wet weather and decent dry weather for every day use, and then (even if you run them on steels) a set of worn tyres which are superb in the dry (look for a tyre wich has large blocks of ruber so the tyre moves around less so it is less likley to over heat).

But if you d find a tyre which does all three, let us know   ;D

Just got some Toyo Proxes T1-s for my 16v from www.blackcircles.com. These were just ?185 for 4 fitted and so far seem amazingly grippy and quiet and that before they've even run in. This service from blackcircles seems great, big discounts and no real hassles. The price included fitting at a Hi-Q garage, who seem to have done a good job.
