WOW, it finaly works!!!!
« on: 19 December 2005, 02:13 »
some of you know ive had truble with my doors unlcking themselves randomely and that my immobiliser refused to work...

I left the imobiliser on last night and when i got to it in the morning and opened the door my bloody alarm went off!! didnt even know i really had one, so i ran in and got my key fob and it turned it off, now for some reason it all works as it should and its even remote central locking too, which i didnt expect, so now i have a fully working alarm, imobiliser and remote central locking,
ive come to believe that my odd self-unlocking doors should be cured now and was something to do with the imobilser all along,
its nice when things work

so i was wondering...is there anyway to get rid of the bloody chime it makes when i arm or disarm my alarm? i can live with it but it could get annoying

I bet the chime is not as bad as mine! Its mega ear piercing loud. Sounds like you wolf whistling and everyone copies it when i open my car. Still its good for scaring people.

Got any idea of the make or model of the alarm? Could be something like water in a joint causing it to bugger up?

Make sure to check your alarms earth/earths, intermittent faults would point towards this.

oooh, Serpi Star? You're screwed mate. Sorry. I had one on my last car, and I searched high and low for some help with it. I think they got taken over by Laserline (Italy) and stopped production etc.

I could get mine to lock and unlock the car, but the actual alarm was random - would go off when set for no reason, when not set for no reason etc.... So I just used the key and had it in 'valet mode' to effectively switch it off. You're honestly better off without it mate.

When I was buying my car now, I checked with a local Clifford installer who said they'd check the alarm install over to make sure it was up to insurance standards for about an hour's labour. They'd knock that off the price of a new alarm install in the event it WASN'T good enough too. Happily for me it was (and is, it's a Clifford  ) so I never had to bother them...

What I'm saying is get a new alarm.... Sorry bud
