is my crankcase shafted?
« on: 18 December 2005, 18:47 »
hello peeps, been ages since i had any problems with my car, however problems have arisen again!!
when im accelerating and reachin around 3000 rpm's, the car starts juddering. i have toslow acceleration or eeven drop down in gears..or up..depending.
have just replaced a pipe leading from the emmisions regulating valve, and i know that wasnt the problem. but the guy from the dub shop reckons its my crankcase that has gone. does this sound correct? he also says that it will cost £128.62ish for the part.also that i have to have my engine out to do the work....is it really that major?? or has anyone else had  the same problem?.any advice is much appreciated  jo xx

Well, it's rare for a non- moving part like that to make the car judder at 3000 revs.... I think you might have either heard it wrong or they might be stiffing you. If I were you I'd take it somewhere else for an opinion, just to see if the stories match up.

Anything that's 'engine out' will cost you...

If it helps - prob not though! - it might be the crank case ventilation channels that are blocked, which could do all sorts of weird things to the engine. If that's the case, I don't know how to fix it, but taking the whole thing apart could be one way!

Let us know...
