ENGINE SWAP NEED ADVICE

I have a mk 3 golf gti 8v with a stage 2 rally superchip and a hks filter with straight through zorst with decat and i have been offered to swap for my engine a mk2 1.8 16v gti engine with similar mileage the bloke has told me that the mk 2 engine is loads better with more power and more reliable than my engine is there any truth in that?? need opinions plz peeps cos i dont know much at all about mk2's

sounds like a waste of time and money. certainley has more power than a standard 2.0 8v (115 vs 136 bhp) but yours int standard so probably not worth the effort. 2.0 has more torque and is just as reliable.

stick with your original chipped engine, the mk2 engines are only quicker in the mk2 as they are alot lighter than the mk3, its just a waste of time and money m8

as above, it would be a waste of time imo, stick with what youv got. The engines in the mk3s seem to be more reliable as they are newer. Think if its running ok at the minute its not worth changing.

yeah, meant to post that in slicks serious advice needed thread. went back too many times.
