oil temp
« on: 16 December 2005, 17:59 »
just took me 3 f**kin hours from milton sh!tty keynes to bedford as my water pipe split like a b!tch. Was stuck on a road where you cant stop, constant traffic etc etc but i managed to find a nice spot and chill  My dad came to the rescue with some duck tape  and this held for a few mins then i had to refill, then stop etc....

oil temp hit 130 which seems abit too high. it this high? has this happend to anyone else's before and did it run ok after?

my heaters were stone cold so im thinking that the thermostat has something to do with this.

Chers,

Blue with a very f**ked up engine

that is very high, i have never had my current one about 109 (not through lack of trying) and the old one hit 124 and then i shut it off. There is always the possibility of warping the head then, i would just take it easy with the car and get it fixed as soon as.

In that case just keep checking the oil filler cap, and resevoir for the usual mayo and balls of oil, just incase it has caused the gasket to fail. It shouldn't of in theory as it sounds like you drove it carefully home and they are generally pretty strong engines. But better safe than sorry.
