suspension drops on a gti
« on: 16 December 2005, 09:46 »
This is getting confusing.  I'm looking at various different makes of suspension for my 8v gti, most of them quote either a 40/40 drop, a 60/40 drop or a 60/60 drop.  Since the gti is already 20mm lower than normal that means i'll only get 20/20 drop, 40/20 drop or 40/40 drop.  Is something like 40/40 going to be low over 17's? or should i be looking for a 80/80 drop to get it down?

if your going for 17in alloys you should go for the 60mm drop or the car will sit to high in my view,
my car is lowered approx 70mm and looks great , it could lower but ive got kids
also you would have to have 205 40 17 tyres if you lower it 60mm as the tyres will scrape on the arches
if you can afford go for ajustable coilovers as on my car they are much better ride quality and you can go as low as you want.my car is also for sale on ebay.
