rough running
« on: 15 December 2005, 12:57 »
my 93 2.0 8v 'engine 2e' i think has developed a fault were it runns teally rough and spit and jumps about , it never happens when it cold only when fully warmed and sometimes 1 hour in to the journey it generally happens when you have been going at constant speed 40 ish normall and then you can feel th e engine start to mess about the consumption has dropped from about 36 to 30 and the tickover becomes erratic.
if i boot it with the clutch in tends to clear itself, but is happening more and more often now and i am waiting for the unavoidable  breakdown without knowing what is really wrong.

i have read loads abut the ecu relay does any body think this could be the problem , or am i looking in the wrong area.
i have already changed temperature sensor for some other reason so i dont think its that.

the speed sensor or airflow meter also seem to be popular faults could it be these oh were do i start

any help would gratefully recived

try cleaning the throttle body or failing that the relays are are worth a go for the small amount they cost.

I've also got a '93 8v which has started doing a similar thing when its been driven for about 2 hours at motorway speeds. I was parking up and the revs just dropped and stalled! Let me know how you get on!
